Did anyone see the show last night at Irving Plaza? Did it seem to you like he wasn't mixing with the crowd very well?

yeah he wasn't. He tried to play a few slow songs, but the crowd wasn't quite at all..so he got really mad at them. it really sucked because he wasn't as fun as he normally is. People need to learn to shut up at the right times...

I know...I was really disappointed. It is my first time seeing him, and I was so excited...I wanted him to love us as much as we love him!!!!! And it doesn't seem like he plays out here very often. I hate that he has a bad taste in his mouth about us New Yorkers.

that sucks... the same kind of thing happened at bucknell on saturday. people talked the whole time, and they cut a few songs off of the setlist.

Actually, at the beginning of the show he was totally feeling the crowd. He threw in quite a few 'Aw Sh!ts' etc. But it was during acoustic 'Church Clothes' that he got mad and didn't finish the song. I don't think it was just his set...I think that he's also fueled by how the crowds have been reluctant to receive Charlotte. It really pisses me off when people pay money to talk.

Me too...sometimes it's hard to tune out the inane conversations, and it takes away from what is happening on stage. I am excited to be going to see him again in Hartford on November 4, so I am hoping for a 'classic' Matt Nathanson performance! Thanks everyone!

Hi all. I saw Matt at Hamilton college last Oct., and I will also see him again there in Nov. This post hit home because the same thing happened at the Hamilton show last year, Matt started getting pissed at people not shutting up, and even yelled at two chicks standing at the side of the stage! haha. It sucks because Matt doesn't come to NY state much, and the crappy crowds must keep discouraging him. Still cant wait for Brockport/Hamilton this fall!

I downloaded that show and there was a whole lot of talking...it's quite distracting. I was really surprised because at the couple shows I've been to the audience has been totally captivated...it's just too bad people can't stop talking for such a short period of time...even if you're not really concerned with what's going on stage, you should at least be respectful of the people around you...
