This is a very interesting story I thought I would share with you all:

So, we took Joey to Matt Nathanson last night up in Boulder at the Fox Theatre.

We were in line an hour and a half early (as usual). I saw a roadie, so I asked him if he could ask Matt to come out and sign Joey's autograph guitar.
He said, "I'll see what I can do."

Twenty minutes later, there was Matt!
He signed the guitar and talked with us a little, then he asked Joey, "Can you play this thing?"
Joey said, "Yeah... I can play 'Angel.'"
Matt said "Really? Okay, here... I'll do the chords and you do the strumming." (Which made Joey hesistate, like... Um, I CAN do it myself, but whatever.) Matt started with the wrong chord, so Joey said "It's supposed to be a G."
Matt said, "Oh yeah, you're right." So they played Angel. Matt was floored. So he asked "What else can you play?"


Joey: "I can play Stairway..."
Matt: "I can't even play Stairway. Show me."
So, Joey props the guitar on his knee, since it has no strap, and plays Stairway... Matt was absolutely blown away... He even said, "I'm gonna end up working for you one day!"

So, before Matt went back in, he said "I'm going to play Angel just for you tonight." and he wrote Joey's name on his hand with a Sharpie.

So, fast forward to the show...

He starts to introduce Angel... He tells the story about the little 7-year-old kid who's been in the front row all night (which was something as last night's show would have made sailors blush - Matt= potty mouth), and who played Stairway... and who... "Hey, Joey... You wanna come up here and just show them what you can do?"
The crowd cheers...

So, we lifted him up on stage... Matt handed him his guitar and adjusted the strap... Joey pushed up his sleeves (more cheers)... And proceeds to play Stairway VERY well... Even the strumming part, without a pick! The crowd (a FULL HOUSE) went wild!!!!!
They ended up chanting "JOEY! JOEY! JOEY!"

It was absolutely ELECTRIC!!!!!!!!

After the show... Joey was a CELEBRITY!
Many, at least 10 (groups of) HOT college chicks asked if they could take pictures with Joey. He did. Everyone was high-fiving him, and congratulating him and thanking him... it was SOOO COOL!

Anyway... Matt was the coolest guy! This night will live forever in Joey's memory... It couldn't have been any better!
